Helen Smith

Helen Smith has over 15 years of experience as a process/chemical engineer and financial/commercial analyst in the mining, gas and chemical processing industries. She is responsible for corporate external technical partnerships within Rio Tinto’s Innovation, Science and Technology Group. Helen has widespread site-based operational and corporate experience working with Rio Tinto, Incitec Pivot, Shell Australia, Anglo American, and Xstrata (now called Glencore) in the areas of production, maintenance, project delivery, procurement, safety, finance and equipment commissioning. As a collaborative program manager, she facilitates the integration of internal and external teams across various locations and time zones. Additionally, she oversees the development, governance, and engagement closure of external collaborations. Helen holds bachelor degrees in chemical engineering and commerce from The University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma of Business (Applied Finance) from Queensland University of Technology.
